Samsung gives the name to its new upcoming flexible AMOLED displays as “YOUM” .Samsung showed a prototype of this display at CES 2012 with 4.5 inches wide, less than .33 mm thick and had a screen resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Samsung YOUM display is thinner and lighter according to the company.
The company also claims that in YOUM the screen is made up of different layers that allow YOUM to be flexible. Normal LCD screens are comprised of six layers with two being glass that make them more susceptible to damage. As Glass is more vulnerable to damage, So company replaces the film-based encapsulation and TFT layers with the usual glass layers featured in LCD and OLED displays. It seems that by the end of the year we’ll meet YOUM displays. As Rumors are coming that Samsung Note 2 will be having the YOUM display.
