USB is the universal serial bus which transfers the data from one computer to other via USB ports given by manufacturers of the computers. In 1994 the group of seven companies worked together for the development of USB.
In 1995 Intel make the first silicon of USB. USB 1.0 which was introduced in January 1996 has data transfer rate between 1.5 MB/s to 12 MB/s, which was quit low that’s why Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Lucent Technologies , NEC and Philips jointly make the USB 2.0 for higher data transfer rate upto 480 MB/s. After this even higher version was made USB 3.0 which was released in 2008 its transmission speed upto 5 GB/s.
The fastest object which is used to transfer data form device to device is USB 3.0 as there is not much difference in the physical structure of the USB 1.0 and USB 2.0 but USB 3.0 is different physically by the extra set of connectors that helps in speed of the data transmission. One end of the USB 3.0 which goes into our computer looks same but inside it their is an extra set of connectors. Other end of the cable which goes into the USB device looks different physically so it looks a bit like a USB plug that’s been crimped a little ways down one end. In result however you can connect the USB 3.0 devices to USB 2.0 port on your computer but you won’t get the speed advantage. In USB 3.0 dual-bus architecture is used to allow both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 Super Speed operations to take place simultaneously which provides the capability of USB 3.0 device to run on USB 2.0 ports.
