According to recent reports form various news agencies, Amazon, after its Kindle’s ‘Fire’ is now planning to introduce its own Smartphone in the market at the end of this year 2012. The new smartphone is suggested to compete with Samsung and Apple’s iPhone. Two guys who revealed this information have naturally preferred to remain anonymous. In November 2011, some information about the Amazon’s smartphone was also leaked by Citigroup analyst Mark Mahaney and told investors
[quote]Based on our supply chain check, we believe FIH [Foxconn] is now jointly developing the phone with Amazon.[/quote]
Currently Amazon is working with Foxconn, Apple’s iPhone and iPad supplier, to bring the smartphone to the market. There is no other information regarding phone’s specs, its availability and pricing. It would be interesting to see just how Amazon is going to leverage on their business model with a smartphone in tow. Amazon is also reported to launch its Kindle Fire 2 this month but until now there’s nothing came out officially from the Amazon’s side.
