Samsung introduced its iPod competitor in the market today with a large 5.8 inch screen. The company also offers smaller versions — for example, its $200 Galaxy Player 5.0 with a 800×480 screen. The Galaxy player looks like Samsung Galaxy S III. The difference is the screen, which measures one inch above the smartphone, at 5.8 inches in diagonal with a 960-by-540-pixel resolution.
The Galaxy Player 5.8 comes with Android 4.0 layered with Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, 1GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB storage options, microSD expansion slot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and a 2500mAh battery. The Galaxy Player 5.8 comes in two variants 16GB or 32GB. Other specs in Samsung’s new device include a Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 2,500mAh battery, a microSD card, 802.11b/g/n wireless networking, GPS support, a front-facing videocamera, and a built-in education portal with multimedia material such as lectures.
Galaxy Player 5.8 costs $250.
