Karbonn’s Intel Powered Phone Due For Launch

After launch of Intel’s first Atom Z2460 chip (Medfield) powered processor phone, Lava XOLO 900. The device runs on an Intel Saltwell 1.6GHz single core CPU with Hyper-Threading, and has the PowerVR SGX540 GPU (400MHz). Now Intel is again successful in building partnership with another Indian phone maker company Karbonn.

In International market Lenovo and Motorola are working closely with Intel to produce Intel powered phones in large international market. Asus is also prepping to launch Medfield powered Tablet on Windows 8 and surface’s 128 GB variant might also run on Intel’s processor. According to Karbonn’s, managing director, Pardeep Jain, said [quote]Karbonn Mobiles will launch an Intel based Android smartphone by year end in India. Our research and development team has been working with Intel on this project for quite some time now.[/quote]

From past some months Intel is showing great interest in the Indian market. On the other hand Intel’s Medfield processors runs on x86 architecture and its taking on traditional industry of ARM chipsets from manufacturers like Qualcomm.
