Difference Between PS2 and PS3

PlayStation is a series of video game consoles created and developed by Sony. Spanning the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth generations of gaming, Playstation was first introduced on December 3, 1994 in Japan. Now it is very popular in the video gaming arena. PS2 was first released on March 4, 2000, in Japan, and then was released on October 26, 2000 in North America, and November 24, 2000 in Europe. PS3 is the third home video game console produced bySony Computer Entertainment and the successor to the PlayStation 2 as a part of the PlayStation series. The PlayStation 3 competes withMicrosoft’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles. It was first released on November 11, 2006, in Japan.

PS2 Vs PS3

There were a lot of things going in favor of PS2 during its launch. It was introduced at a time when no other competitive products were in view. In fact, the main reason for high sales figures of PS2 was not its games but the provision of a DVD player which was comparatively much cheaper than the stand alone DVD players. As a direct result of this provision, the hardware costs went down. The manufacturers were forced to cut down the prices.

But when Sony announced the PS3, the same factors were not in favor of it. This time around Sony has competition from Nintendo and Microsoft. There has also been a high rise in the cost of PS3 which does not augur well for its sales. The Blu-ray feature has been beaten to the market with the introduction of HD-DVD, which offers better picture quality. You also have to invest a lot more on additional hardware when you purchase the PS3. This adds to the already huge cost. And lastly, PS3 does not include any particular new feature to talk about despite that the PS3 was a significantly better product than its predecessors.

So the PS3 seems to be losing out on the PS2. It is time Sony took notice and tried to make amends. Otherwise the PS2 will continue to rule the market atleast  for the time being.

IPS+ Display With LG’s New Device Optimus G

IPS panel is the new technology promising both extreme brightness and reduced power consumption against AMOLEDs favored by arch-rival Samsung.  IPS+ displays use 70-percent less power than when showing an all-white background, something which taxes AMOLED. The panel also bypasses screen burn-in, unlike AMOLED, while still hitting 470 nits of brightness.

The high-tech technology is paired with a new style of touch layer, too, with LG working with LG Innotek to create G2 Touch Hybrid Display that bonds glass and LCD. Thickness is down by 30-percent compared to previous-gen screens, and graphics themselves appear to float right under the fingertip. LG had already confirmed that its new device would debut Qualcomm’s upcoming S4 Pro Snapdragon chipset, the APQ8064.

We’re expecting to see more from LG on IPS+ display in the coming weeks. Actually it is also suggested that we may get hands on with IPS+ Display in earlier next year.

Samsung Loses Battle, Apple Gets Over 1 Billion Dollar In Patent Suit

After several trials and adjournments, Today US Court ordered Samsung to pay $1.05 billion damages, after ruling that the South Korean firm infringed on some Apple patents in patent infringement trial between Samsung and Apple. Today Jury concluded that Samsung stole the technology from iPad and Iphone.

Earlier Apple claimed that Samsung has copied its design and technology by infringing its six or seven patents (381 patent, 915 patent, 163 patent, etc) in Android Phone line. Last week Judge Lucy Koh and Jury said that Samsung and Apple both destroyed the proofs. In another trial, a South Korean court blamed both the companies, ordering Samsung to stop selling 10 products including its Galaxy S II phone and banning Apple from selling its four different products.

After Court’s Decision the Samsung PR team said that

“Today’s verdict should not be viewed as a win for Apple, but as a loss for the American consumer. It will lead to fewer choices, less innovation, and potentially higher prices. It is unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners, or technology that is being improved every day by Samsung and other companies. Consumers have the right to choices, and they know what they are buying when they purchase Samsung products. This is not the final word in this case or in battles being waged in courts and tribunals around the world, some of which have already rejected many of Apple’s claims. Samsung will continue to innovate and offer choices for the consumer.”

On the other side Apple PR Head said:

We are grateful to the jury for their service and for investing the time to listen to our story and we were thrilled to be able to finally tell it. The mountain of evidence presented during the trail showed that Samsung’s copying went far deeper than even we knew. The lawsuits between Apple and Samsung were about much more than patents or money. They were about values. At Apple, we value originality and innovation and pour our lives into making the best products on earth. We make these products to delight our customers, not for our competitors to flagrantly copy. We applaud the court for finding Samsung’s behavior willful and for sending a loud and clear message that stealing isn’t right.

Samsung has been ordered to pay Apple $1.05 billion but this is not the actual loss as Samsung has to pull out all infringed smartphones from US market which would cost them much more than this.

Earlier Bloomberg reported that Apple and Samsung combined, make up for more than half of global smartphone sales. About 22.7 million smartphones and tablets have been sold by Samsung. So now it means the overall sales will also get reduced!

So guys this means that the verdict is a blow to Android as much as Samsung. So now we gonna have fewer phone options?

For me I can this is truly wrong, I will also say this whole patent system truly wrong in US and several other countries. Samsung also replied to the patent system by saying

Unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners.

Thank God it’s not in India.

According to me, now let Samsung stop supplying Apple the chips & microprocessors that run iPhones!!
